RE: I finally got a machine....

why not choose the sunl atvs, ther are much more cheaper, but with not bad performance. if you don't abusingly steer it, sunl atv is a good choice for kids and beginners.
1. Cheaper than $200?!? I don't think so!
2. "if you don't abusingly steer it..." So in other words, the steering sucks, and can break pretty easily.
Go try to sell your sh!t somewhere else!!!!
Anyways, back to the original reason for this post. It's alive!!!! :B

Got the carb put back on, put fresh gas in, and tryed to start it. The battery is dead from sitting so long, so we had to kickstart it, but it popped right off! Yes!! One of the first purchases for it will definately be a muffler- Holy******was it loud with the garage all closed up! The carbs need adjusting, but at least it runs.
Another good thing- I might possibly (hopefully!) be able to get a parts machine for really cheap. A friend of ours stopped over tonight, and was saying his dad's 300 is in the shop right now. Apparently the rear end is shot, and it won't stay running and I'm not sure what else. His dad doesn't use it much- just to herd cattle sometimes, and occasionally check fences. If they can't figure out whats wrong with it, he'll probably just junk it. So I might be able to get fenders, brand new tires, cv boot (one of mine is trashed), and whatever else I need without spending major cash! I hope, I hope, I hope!

I finally got a machine....

...well, kind of.
Thursday night, on one of our area bulletin boards, my husband saw a post about an 88 Honda TRX300 4x4, carb off for rebuilding, needs fenders, otherwise it did run good, etc. So he posted a reply to find out where the guy was located. It turns out he was in the next town over. So I called him last night, and we went and looked at it this morning. And of course brought it home!

Obviously needs work done on it!! But we were looking at the carb, and it was filthy, jets totally plugged. So hopefully all it needs is a good cleaning. So maybe we'll actually have it running tonight. It needs new plastics (DUH!!), new tires, brake cables, new exhaust system (the muffler's been cut off- maybe they were going to put an aftermarket on??) But the motor seems to be really good.
So all in all, even with all the work that needs to be done, I think we got a good little machine for $200. :) It's something that I can ride until my mother-in-law decides if she's going to get rid of hers (she's got shoulder problems and never rides hers anymore), and then when he gets a little bigger, my son will inherit this one.
Hopefully another month or two and I'll be able to ride my own machine!!

RE: For the Hunters

Only 8 more days until I can (hopefully) "properly" break in my .270! I got banned from using the hubby's 30-06 last year in the early season after I lost more blood than the buck did. (5 stitches later...stupid scope!) Oh well, I'd been wanting a gun in my own name for a while anyways. Wish me luck!!
